Environment Canada issued tornado watches for parts of southern Ontario, including Newmarket, Pickering, and Oshawa — as well as Barrie and cottage country, on Friday.
They have since ended.
A severe thunderstorm warning was also issued for the City of Toronto and the GTA with storms are capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain. The warning ended just after 5:30 p.m.
The public is being advised to take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches.
